Milford Police Department is still seeking assistance from the public for several cold cases they have not resolved. One of the cases is more than 50 years old.
On July 10, 1971, at approximately 11:50 AM, police were sent to check on the welfare of Hazel Mason, 48, after she did not report to work. At approximately 12:20 PM, police forced entry into the home and located Mason lying on the floor deceased. Her body was turned over to the medical examiner where it was discovered she died from strangulation. Investigators at the time saw no evidence of burglary or sexual assault.
On October 26, 2012, police responded to a vacant lot about a quarter mile south of Mispillion Apartments for reports of a body that had been located. The victim was identified as Carlton May Jr., 28. The investigation revealed May had died of a gunshot wound. According to May’s obituary, he was known as “Booky” and “Boot Babe.” He was the son of Carlton Earl May Sr. and Deborah Evans May Smith.
On November 9, 2013, Milford Police Department was dispatched to Valley Run Apartments for reports of a man in a hallway with blood on him. When police arrived, they found Martin E. Fowler, 23, deceased with multiple gunshot wounds.
