On January 30, 2026, at approximately 2 AM, a trooper patrolling Bay Road near Barratt’s Chapel Road in Frederica saw a Lexus ES300 traveling southbound at a high rate of speed. The trooper attempted to pull over the Lexus, but the driver did not stop and a pursuit began.
When the driver accelerated to a higher rate of speed, the pursuit was called off due to public safety concerns. The Delaware State Police Communications Section alerted other police agencies of the fleeing vehicle.
A short time later, Milford Police Department officers found the Lexus disabled near North Street and DuPont Boulevard. Upon seeing law enforcement, the driver, later identified as Marquan Mack, 29, of Philadelphia, threw a baggie containing an unknown substance from the vehicle. Troopers responded to the scene, and, after a brief struggle, Mack was taken into custody. A search of the surrounding area led to the recovery of the discarded baggie which contained approximately 3.5 grams of suspected powder cocaine.
Further investigation revealed that Mack provided false identifying information to troopers in an attempt to conceal active warrants for violation of parole in New Jersey and violation of probation in Pennsylvania. Troopers also observed signs of impairment and conducted a DUI investigation.
Mack was taken to Troop 3 where he was charged with providing false statements to law enforcement with intent to delay or hinder investigation of a felony; disregarding a police officer signal; resisting arrest; possessing or consuming a controlled substance; possession of drug paraphernalia; reckless driving 90 MPH or greater; driving under the influence of alcohol and any drug; related traffic offenses.
He was charged arraigned at Justice of the Peace /court 2 and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on $6,001 secured bond.
