This year, Milford Times will highlight every business in Milford throughout the year to give visitors and residents details on the history, services and unique outlook every business owner in Milford has. We begin our series with TADA Performance Company. If you would like your business highlighted, contact us by clicking here.
One of the newer businesses in Milford, Studio B, is a small, community-focused print shop. The company opened in 2023 and since they opened their doors, the goal has been to offer high-quality, thoughtfully produced print materials with a personal, hands-on approach that larger print providers often can’t offer.
“We specialize in custom print and design services including business printing, such as business cards, postcards, flyers and rack cards,” Brianna Kepley, who owns the business with her husband, Benjamin, said. “We also offer invitations, stationary, art prints and small-batch creative projects, signage, posters and more. Getting married? We can handle invitations for your wedding or shower. We can also help you with event flyers and announcements.”
The Kepley’s decided to start the business out of a love for print, design and making tangible things matter to people.
“Print media has a warmth and impact that digital media often lacs,” Mrs. Kepley said. “We wanted to create a space where ideas could be translated into something physical, intentional and well-crafted while also supporting the local community.”
Mrs. Kepley pointed out that the challenges they face are similar to almost every small business.
“Wearing many hats at once has been both a challenge and a learning experience,” Mrs. Kepley said. “Growing our family while growing our business has also been an unexpectedly delightful challenge and a joy. Scaling thoughtfully without losing quality or the personal connection that we want to define for the Studio is our goal going forward.”
One of the greatest achievements for the Kepley’s has been building a loyal customer base that trusts Studio B with meaningful projects. They are thrilled to have small businesses returning again and again, individuals choosing them for milestone moments and community members recommending them to others. The trust is incredibly rewarding the Kepler’s say.
“If I were starting again, I would bring in excellent professional support from day one for the administrative and operational side of the business, things like accounting and IT,” Mrs. Kepler said. “Delegating some of those many owner hats to those who wear them well and having experienced professionals handle those specialized skills would have allowed us to focus more fully on what we do best which is production, design and serving our clients directly.”
For those considering entering the business, the Kepler’s advice is to learn both the creative and business sides of the industry.
“Printing is as much about logistics and follow-through as it is about design,” Mrs. Kepler said. “Listen closely to your customers and take their needs seriously. Appreciate the value of good relationships, especially in a local market. Just as important, bring real determination to the work as there are long days, setbacks and moments where progress feels slow, but consistency and commitment matter. Always lead with authenticity, invest in quality and build solid support systems around you.”
Studio B is located in the former Delaware Eye Center building on the corner of Northeast Front Street and Denny Row. They are open 8:30 AM to 5 PM Monday through Friday. No appointments are necessary. For more information, call 302-491-7910 or send an email.
“Many projects begin with a short consultation so we can understand goals, timelines and budgets before production begins,” Mrs. Kepler said.
