On Monday, January 12, Milford City Council will hold a public hearing on a conditional use request from Carlisle Fire Company that would allow them to put a substation on property near Cedar Beach Road. The company will convert an existing building on the property into the substation. Milford Planning Commission approved the request unanimously.
“Over a year ago, we started on an endeavor to find a location for the substation” Duane Fox said. “After doing some research, we found out that the City of Milford zoning and the county zoning don’t match. The county says commercial and the city says residential.”
At Monday’s meeting, a public hearing will be held where those in support of or who oppose the request can state their positions. The fire company wants to place the substation there to improve response times in the southeast portion of Milford.
The meeting will take place in council chambers in City Hall or those interested are able to attend online. Public comments can be made both in person and online. The link to the online meeting access can be found by clicking here.
