Milford Historical Society announced extensive renovations to the Parson Thorne Mansion as well as plans to construct a new visitor’s center on the property. The society is also renovating an outbuilding to represent a sharecropper’s home as it may have looked many years ago.
Second Street Players performed several plays over the past year including Peter Pan and Wendy, The Secret Garden, Villain School, Little Shop of Horrors, Coney Island Christmas, and Diary of Ann Frank,
Two Milford women, Nicole Hutchison and Nicole Worthley are bringing attention to First State Heritage Park.
Music in the Park returned to downtown, an event planned by Milford Public Library. In addition, the Downtown Milford Inc. introduced Music in the Park, an event to celebrate Independence Day.
The Rotary Club celebrated 100 years with the publishing of a book detailing their history.
The Riverwalk Farmer’s Market celebrated its 30th anniversary when it opened in May. The Farmer’s Market, operated by Downtown Milford Inc., is the oldest continuously running Farmer’s Market in the state. In addition, Downtown Milford Inc. welcomed a new Downtown Coordinator when Sade Truiett joined them in April.
Turning tragedy into action, DJ’s Alliance was formed by Jennifer Antonik and her children to help those who are dealing with loss due to suicide. The organization was instrumental in the passage of legislation to create the Office of Suicide Prevention.
During the federal government began freezing grants during the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) began reviewing tax expenditures, several local agencies were impacted, leading them to request additional assistance from the public. These included the Food Bank of Delaware, American Diabetes Association, and Delaware Humanities.
The Chamber of Commerce for Greater Milford announced that Matt Barcezewski was selected as the Honorary Mayor.
Three local girl scouts, Charlotte, Emma and Lily, constructed shelters at the Brandywine SPCA. Karen Berry was sworn in at the Delaware Veteran’s Home in Milford as the first Veteran’s Affairs Secretary.
In addition, many of the most popular events returned in 2025, including the Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration, St. Patrick’s Day Pub Crawl, Bug & Bud Festival, Chamber of Commerce for Greater Milford Golf Classic, Riverwalk Freedom Festival, Milford Community Parade, Santa’s arrival, City Tree Lighting, Tastes of Milford and Holiday Auction and the Holiday Stroll, returned to the city this year.
