While the Milford field hockey team was on the fairly young side this season, they were able to secure a State Tournament berth. Unfortunately, an opening round 2-1 loss at Padua ended their season. While not the result Buccaneer fans may have wanted, the season served as a reminder of the continued building of coach Andrea McPike and her staff. Three players were acknowledged with All-State accolades, here is a little about each of them with thoughts from coach McPike:
1st Team Goalkeeper Madison Stahl
Milford senior Stahl was an anchor on the team, providing tremendous skills and leadership. Providing tremendous skills, she garnered the nickname “Stahl The Wall”
“Madi is a 3 -year Varsity Starter, Senior Captain, and 2x – Henlopen North 1st Team All-Conference goalie,” McPike said. “She is incredibly focused, driven athlete who worked tirelessly to develop elite-level goalkeeper skills despite limited off-season training or exposure. She became the calm at the center of our defense — a steady, composed teammate whose presence brought confidence and stability to everyone around her. She will be playing Field Hockey and Lacrosse at Smith College.”
1st Team Midfield: Molly Masten
Another senior, this versatile player, demonstrated admirable play in mid-field often turning defense into offense. Skilled in the circle as well, her leadership was evident throughout the season, as she helped bring this young Buccaneer squad along.
“Molly is a 4-year varsity starter, 3-time all-conference player, and was selected to 2nd Team All-State as a sophomore,” McPike said. “She is a player who leads not only by words, but through consistent action. She builds trust, unity, and confidence within the team, setting a standard for accountability and commitment. Her influence is felt in every huddle, every drill, and every game.”
2nd Team Attack/Midfield: Isabel Betts
Yet another leader on this squad, Buc senior Betts often found herself double and triple teamed by the opposition. Her skill within the circle was of high quality, rarely missing when given the opportunity to make a key pass or score a goal.
“Izzy is a 4-year Varsity starter, Senior captain, and 3-time All-conference player. She ignites key moments, shifts momentum, and brings fire to practice and games,” McPike said. “Her hustle is contagious, presence on the field raises the standard for all her teammates, and she has the ability to change the game with her attitude and intensity.”
Congratulations and best wishes to the soon to be Milford Graduates!
