The City of Milford in partnership with Downtown Milford Inc., Milford School District, Opera Delaware and the First State Harmonizers will hold the annual tree lighting in front of City Hall on Saturday, November 29 from 4:30 to 6 PM. The event will include music, free cookies, hot chocolate and more.
“We are very excited to bring this annual event back this year,” Lauren Swain, Economic Development and Community Relations Director, said. “We will have Elsa and Olaf wandering around the event, DJ Dave providing music as well as children’s crafts provided by the Culture Club.”
The MC for the evening is Pastor Neyda Albarran from Avenue Church with holiday greetings offered by Mayor Todd Culotta and Vice-Mayor Jason James. Students from Lulu M. Ross and Mispillion Elementary Schools will perform Christmas carols with the First State Harmonizers also singing some Christmas classics.
“The mayor will accept presentations of a menorah, kinara and advent wreath to represent the many ways Milfordians celebrate the holidays,” Swain said. “The Jesus Love Temple Gospel will also sing that evening. Santa and Paige from Paige’s Kindness Project will throw the switch between 5:15 and 5:30 PM.”
Downtown Milford Inc. will provide free cookies while Village and Venue will sell hot chocolate and coffee. Peggy Schmidt will provide sign language interpretation as well. The event is free to attend.
“We hope to see a large crowd gathered in front of City Hall as we kick off this holiday season in style,” Swain said.
The tree lighting coincides with Santa’s arrival that day at 11 AM and Small Business Saturday were holiday shoppers are encouraged to shop small for the holidays.
