Robert “Bobby” Earl Martin passed away on October 3. He was 87.
Born in Birmingham, Alabama, on February 13, 1938, Martin was the son of Monroe Lorenzo and Carmen Esril Martin. At an early age, Martin gave his hear to the Lord, baptized in September 1945 by the late Rev. Fred Wesley at the Evergreen Baptist Church. Later in life, he became a member of the Generation of Praise Christian Church in Gambrills, Maryland.
After graduating from Snowden Township High School in 1955, Martin joined the United States Air Force. While serving in the military for 20 years, Martin served tours in Taiwan, Formosa, the Philippines, Vietnam and Japan. It was during these tours he gained experience as a communication specialist, a catalyst for his federal government service with the National Security Agency and then the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Satellite Operations Control Center in Washington, D.C. Between his service in the military and the federal government, Martin served his country for more than 38 years.
After retiring, Martin met Brenda Hagans, his friend and partner. On February 27, 1996, the couple were married.
Martin was preceded in death by his parents; an older sister, Willi Ophelia Archie; an older brother, Monroe Lorenzo Martin; and a nephew, James Edward Hudson.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda; a daughter, Monique Lynch and her husband, Charles; a sister, Shirley Martin of Fontana, California and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
