Chase Washington, 23, of Magnolia, has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred September 30 in Magnolia.
Troopers responded to Millchop Lane in Magnolia around 7:30 PM after receiving a report of a shooting. When troopers arrived, they found Tamia Gordon, 20, of Magnolia suffering from a gunshot wound. She was transported to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead.
The Delaware State Police Homicide Unit assumed the investigation and found that Washington, an acquaintance of the victim, was in the residence with Gordon. The investigation found that Washington was handling a loaded handgun in a reckless manner. The handgun discharged and struck the victim.
Washington was taken into custody and transported to Troop 3 where he was charged with manslaughter recklessly causing the death of another and possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony. He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 7 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $100,000 cash bond.
