After receiving numerous complaints of drug dealing occurring in the area of West Street and Truitt Avenue, Milford Police Department conducted proactive patrols in the area. On September 23, officers observed several subjects known to the officers in the 500 block of West Street acting suspiciously.
Officers attempted to make contact with the subject a short time later to question them about their suspicious behavior and the suspects fled. A foot pursuit ensued resulting in all subjects taken into custody without incident. The suspects were identified as Jared Whitemore, 18, and Jayden Sykes, 19, both of Milford. Drug paraphernalia and U.S. currency were found when Whitemore was searched.
Whitemore was charged with manufacture/deliver/possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance; tampering with physical evidence-evidence suppression; resisting arrest; possession of drug paraphernalia; and criminal trespass in the third degree.
Sykes was charged with resisting arrest and criminal trespass in the third degree.
Both had presentment at Justice of the Peace Court 2 where Whitemore was released on $7,750 unsecured bail and Sykes was released on $1,250 unsecured bail. Both were ordered to appear at a later date in the Kent County Court of Common Pleas.
