On September 9 around 9 PM, Delaware State Police arrested Garry Phillips, 64, of Frankford for his seventh offense DUI and other traffic offenses.
Troopers on patrol saw a silver GMC Yukon traveling eastbound on Milton Ellendale Highway near Sharon’s Road driving erratically. The vehicle slowed down, sped up and drove in the middle of the road. Troopers pulled the vehicle over and spoke to the driver, later identified as Phillips, who showed signs of impairment.
A Standardized Field Sobriety test was administered, leading to Phillip’s arrest for driving under the influence. A computer check revealed Phillip’s had six prior convictions for DUI and was driving on a suspended license.
Phillips was taken to Troop 7 and charged with 7th offense DUI, driving while suspended or revoked and failing to remain in a single lane. He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 7 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $8,501 cash bond.
Any individual charged in this case is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
