Delaware State Police arrested Duonne Green, 38, of Seaford for DUI and gun charges on September 9. The arrest occurred in Ellendale.
A trooper on patrol saw a white Hyundai Sonata traveling on Old State Road near New Hope Road and saw the driver was not wearing a seatbelt. A computer check found that the registration on the car was suspended for no insurance. The trooper initiated a traffic stop and recognized multiple signs of impairment.
The trooper asked Green to step out of the car and saw a handgun in his pocket. Green was detained without incident and a computer check indicated he was a person prohibited from possessing a firearm or ammunition. He was also driving on a suspended license.
Green was transported to Troop 7 where he refused Standardized Field Sobriety Tests. He was charged with possession of a firearm within ten years of a felony conviction; possession of a firearm by a person prohibited due to a prior violent crime or felony; carrying a concealed deadly weapon; driving under the influence; possession of a firearm while under the influence; driving while suspended or revoked; fictitious or cancelled registration card, number plate or tag; and a seatbelt violation.
Green was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 7 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $21,202 cash bond.
Any individual charged in a crime is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
