On August 29, at approximately 7:10 AM, 39-year-old Isidro Cerda of Dover died while riding a gray Kawasaki ZX6 westbound on Beach Highway (Route 16) near Webb Farm Road. According to Delaware State Police, Cerda was traveling at a high rate of speed when he entered the eastbound lane to pass two vehicles. As it came back into the westbound lane, Cerda lost control, and the motorcycle began to skid.
After skidding, the motorcycle left the roadway and struck a utility pole, ejecting him from the motorcycle. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The road was closed for approximately five hours as troopers investigated.
