Milford School District announced on July 9 that there was a temporary vacancy on the MSD School Board for Area C. The term runs through June 30, 2026, and was the seat held until this month by Dr. Adam Brownstein.
Milford School District Board of Education will appoint someone to the seat. In order to be considered, applicants should submit a letter of interest along with a resume of education and professional background by 4 PM on August 14, 2025. The request to be considered should be sent by mail to Milford Board of Education, c/o Milford School District, Attention: Mrs. Donna Robinson, Administrative Secretary, Superintendent’s Office, 906 Lakeview Avenue, Milford DE 19963 or emailed to [email protected].
In order to be considered as a candidate, you must be a citizen of the United States, Delaware and live in Milford School District in Area C. You must be 18 years of age or older at the time of appointment. School board members cannot be paid members of the district and must never have been convicted of embezzlement.
Anyone who has been convicted, plead guilty or nolo contendere to any crime against a child constituting a felony; any sexual offense against a child; any crime constituting a felony sexual offense or unlawful contact in the third degree under §767 of Title 11 may not serve on the school board. In addition, anyone who has been convicted, plead guilty or nolo contendere within the preceding five years to any crime against a child constituting a misdemeanor, except for unlawful sexual contact in the third degree under §767 of Title 11, possession of a controlled substance or a counterfeit controlled substance classified as such in Schedule I, II, III, IV or V of Chapter 47 of Title 16 may not serve on the board.
There are exceptions to the controlled substance regulation which can be found on the district website.
Area C the southeastern portion of Milford School District. It runs along the Mispillion River from the Delaware Bay to Swan Creek, then west along the center of Swan Creek to Route 113. The boundary then turns south along the center of Route 113 to Herring Branch near Lincoln, proceeds along the center of Elks Lodge Road (211) to Johnson Road (207), then northeast along Johnson Road to Cedar Creek Road (30). The boundary then travels along the center of Cedar Creek Road to the northeast corner of the Cedar Creek Millpond, then east along the common boundary between Milford and Cape Henlopen School Districts to the Delaware Bay.
