Carlisle Fire Company provided their monthly update to Milford City Council at a recent meeting. The report covered calls and events for September.
“We had 69 fire calls with 35 in city limits and 34 outside of city limits,” Chief Brendan Fountain said. “As for EMS, we had 530 calls for September. With that number of calls, we have implemented at least twice a week running our third crew. We are looking at putting that third crew on 24/7 as well. We are finding that when we go out for one call, we have four or five more EMS calls at the same time.”
Fountain reported that 48 percent of calls had a response time of under one minute and 74 percent under two minutes.
“Some of our project updates, we are awaiting our final inspection from the fire marshal for the EMS administrative office quarters located at our main station campus, so we are looking to complete that project by the end of this month,” Fountain said. “As far as our Station 2, we are inviting the city and general public to attend our open house, locate at 21 Cedar Beach Road, on Halloween.”
Fountain explained that Halloween was going to be a busy day for the company as they were holding a ribbon cutting for Station 2 at 9 AM and a Fire Prevention Open House at the Main Station from 11 AM to 3 PM. From 6 to 8 PM, the company will hold their annual Truck or Treat at the Main Station.
“I just want to say thank you for the daycare visits,” Councilwoman Nina Pletcher said. “My daughter thoroughly enjoyed it. Well, the kids enjoyed it, but I know the others as well. It’s great.”
Fountain stated that the company appreciated her kind words. Pletcher then asked why the fire company gave a monthly report, which she understood as the city provided funding, but other organizations did not report monthly. Mayor Todd Culotta explained that other organizations reported quarterly.
“I can address that,” Fountain said. “When I came in as chief, I felt it was necessary to not just come to the city to ask for things, but to provide the city with information to be fully transparent about what we are doing.”
