Milford Museum has launched a membership drive, sending out a request for renewal to former members and reaching out to those who may not have been members before. The museum has recently moved into the former police station along with the Chamber of Commerce for Greater Milford.
“Full occupancy is pending, but this is an exciting milestone for our organization,” Executive Director Larry Josefowski and President Charles Hammond said in the request letter. “In partnership with the Milford Chamber of Commerce, which has also moved into the new building, the new Milford Welcome Center will be a gateway for residents and visitors to discover the rich history, culture and natural attractions of our region”
According to Josefowski and Hammond, the transition will take several months as the main display area is reimagined. The museum hopes to announce the reopening of their research area which has been expanded.
“Our popular Second Saturday American History Program Series at the Milford Library will also continue, drawing strong attendance and helping bring people into downtown Milford,” the letter continued. “We will also be having a special “members only” opening event in November.”
Support through membership dues and donations are essential to sustaining programs, carrying out the mission to preserve and share the history of the Milford area, and to bring about the next phase of the museum.
“Our new building brings with it new expenses, but your membership is more than financial support,” the letter continued. “It is a vote of confidence in the museum’s future and an investment in the stories, collections and programs that connect our community.”
Checks for membership can be mailed using a membership form found online to 400A Northeast Front Street, Milford DE 19963. Memberships can also be paid online.
