On August 29, 2026, at approximately 9:50 AM, troopers responded to the WSFS Bank, located at 19335 Coastal Highway in Rehoboth Beach, for a reported robbery. The preliminary investigation revealed the unknown suspect entered the bank and gave the employee a demand note. The employee complied and the suspect fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash. No weapon was involved and no injury was reported.
The suspect was described as a thin black male in his twenties who was dressed like a female while wearing tight clothing and a wig.
The Delaware State Police arrested 26-year-old Demetrius Frith-Thompson, of Milford, Delaware, for the robbery bank robbery after Frith-Thompson turned himself into Troop 4.
He was charged with the robbery in the second degree and wearing a disguise during the commission of a felony, arraigned by the Justice of the Peace, and released on a $3,000 unsecured bond.
During the investigation, detectives learned that a second suspect, identified as Mark Smith, of Ellendale, helped Frith-Thompson plan and commit the robbery. Detectives also learned that Smith drove Frith-Thompson to the area of WSFS Bank and after the robbery, Frith-Thompson discarded his disguise, changed clothes in the Chick-fil-A bathroom, met Smith and fled the area.
On September 8, 2026, Smith was arrested and taken to Troop 4. He was charged with robbery in the second degree and conspiracy, arraigned by the Justice of the Peace, and committed to the Department of Correction on a $6,000 secured bond and violation of probation.
The Delaware State Police Troop 4 Criminal Investigations Unit continues to investigate this incident.
