Milford Public Library announced portions of the library would be closed due to construction from August 17 through 21. General library services will be unavailable although programs will continue as scheduled.
The closure is part of the Centennial Renovation Project which will give the library an overhaul, new HVAC system and new layout. All holds and due dates will be automatically extended, the library announced.
Demolition began on July 27 with most library services relocating to the large meeting rooms downstairs, known as the Smith Room. Patrons were instructed to enter and exit through the portico doors. Meetings, programs and other activities will be confined to the meeting rooms.
During the closure, however, because there will be interior concrete trenching, the library will close although, as mentioned, programs will continue. The library plans to reopen on August 22.
The library reminds everyone that the main collection is unavailable for browsing, but patrons are welcome to explore new releases, the browse collection, recently returned materials, newspapers and top-circulating titles. To access the main collection, patrons are asked to place them on hold and ensure contact information is correct. The library staff will be in contact when materials are ready to be picked up.
The Children’s Wing and collections will remain unaffected as well as public computers, printing, copying, scanning and other essential services.
