Zentangle, a meditative, structured drawing method, will be the focus of a special exhibit at the Milford Public Library on Tuesday, March 24 from 4:30 to 6:30 PM. The public is welcome to view the artwork created by participants in an 8-week class.
“Zentangle was developed by Rick Roberts and Maria Thomas in 2003,” Lea Rosell, Executive Director of the library, said.” It is designed to create intricate, non-representational art using repetitive patterns, called “tangles”. It focuses on the process rather than the result, typically using black ink on 3.5-inch white paper tiles to foster relaxation, mindfulness, and increased.”
Guests will be able to view the original pieces created during classes ad learn more about the Zentangle method. The art is relaxing, mosaic-style and the class was offered as part of the library’s Creative Aging program. Keith Warren, a local artist, led the classes.
“This program offers an easy introduction to mosaic-style technique in a way that is both fun and relaxing for participants,” Cynthia Melendez, Adult Program Coordinator, said.
Light refreshments will be served at the event. The Creative Aging series is fully supported by a grant from the Delaware Division of the Arts, in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts. The Division promotes arts events statewide through DelawareScene.com.
