One of the most anticipated events of the holiday season, Downtown Milford Inc.’s Holiday Stroll, took place on Saturday, December 6. Thousands enjoyed a holiday market, food trucks and s’mores while also shopping in local businesses.
“It makes us smile to know so many people look forward to this event every year,” Sade Truiett, Downtown Milford Coordinator said. “Milford looks like a Hallmark movie, with twinkle lights, decorations and the air filled with holiday spirit.”
Last year, Downtown Milford Inc. brought back the Holiday Window Decorating Contest. Attendees voted for the business with the most beautiful decorations. Last year, Gallery 37 was the lucky recipient, but had to give up the trophy to The Collective this year.
“All of the decorated windows were beautiful,” Truiett said. “We thank every business who participated in this fun event and look forward to seeing who grabs the trophy next year.”
In addition, themed baskets were raffled by Downtown Milford Inc. To get a raffle ticket, festival guests had to purchase at least $5 in a downtown store. For every $5 spent, they received a free raffle ticket that could be used to win one or more of the baskets. Winners will be announced on Tuesday, December 9 via Facebook. Winners will also receive a phone call or email. Baskets can be picked up at the Downtown Milford Inc. office Tuesday through Friday between 12 Noon and 4 PM.
Visitors were also able to enjoy s’mores next to a roaring bonfire in the Milford Library amphitheatre. The bonfire, provided by Representative Bryan Shupe, was where many children and adults were found, eating the popular marshamallow graham cracker and chocolate treat.
Downtown Milford Inc. is already making plans for next year and would love to have volunteers join the committee to grow this event. For more information, contact Truiett at 302-393-6808 or by email.
