The Milford Museum American History Series will celebrate Women’s History month with a program about the Secret Rosies of World War II presented by Trish Chambers on Saturday, March 8, 1:00 p.m. at the Milford Public Library in Milford, Delaware. Whenever we think of Rosie the Riveter, we remember those amazing women of World War II who stepped into the manufacturing, military, and civilian jobs that kept America running and supplied our troop needs overseas. Recently, another group of magnificent women has been brought to the attention of the American people. Many of the women presented in this program took their stories to their graves. These women are known “The Secret Rosies of WWII.” This presentation is the story of where they came from, what they accomplished, and the surprising impact they had on the outcome of the war. These women were truly unsung heroes of American history.
Trish Chambers’ unique and energetic presentation style combines both humor and realism. She has appeared on TV for the History Channel, on radio, and in the movie Gods and Generals. The author of two non-fiction books: “Civil War Women: Their Roles and Legacies” and “Lighthouses of the New Jersey Lighthouse Challenge,” Chambers’ diligence in producing authenticated, historically accurate, and thoroughly researched historical presentations has led her to being invited to speak at National Parks, schools, libraries, historical societies, colleges, and senior facilities along the Eastern Seaboard. The New York State Assembly and the New York State Senate recognized her for participation in the Orange County Rehabilitation Support Services Speakers Forum.
Sponsored by the Milford Museum, these monthly programs focus on a variety of topics concerning local, state, and national history. These presentations are held on the second Saturday of each month, at 1:00 p.m., in the Milford Public Library. The library is located at 11 S.E. Front Street in Milford, Delaware. For more information, please contact the Museum at (302) 424-1080, tom@milforddemuseum.org. These programs are offered through a generous grant from The Delaware Heritage Commission.
