Milford Advocacy for the Homeless (MAH) announced speakers for their “Together We Serve” series, a virtual speaker series held each month. The series is designed to spotlight organizations and individuals making a positive impact on homelessness, housing insecurity and human services in Delaware.
“The series is normally held on the first Friday of every month, but due to the holiday, the September event is planned for September 6 from 8:30 to 9:30 AM,” Martha Gery, Founder and President of MAH said. “We’re so excited to keep building bridges between service providers, local residents and advocates through “Together We Serve.” The program allows us to elevate the work of so many local heroes while also informing and inspiring the public to take part in meaningful community action.”
Lou Hernandez of Higher Ground Outreach will talk about community empowerment through faith-based outreach. Higher Ground Outreach, based in Georgetown, has a mission to foster a supportive community where homeless and underserved individuals affected by substance abuse and mental health disorders can find hope, kindness and lasting recovery. The organization uses advocacy, peer support and education to provide a safe space for positive and transformative change.
The second speaker for the meeting is Amy Stratton Waltz, Executive Director of the Milford Senior Center. She will speak on services and resources for seniors. Milford Senior Center provides services, programs and experiences for members. Membership is available for anyone who is 50 years or older.
