On Thursday, Milford hosted a highly motivated William Penn squad on senior night. With Penn fighting for a tournament spot and Milford far from contention, it would be the visitors who would control the pace of the game and come out with a 5-0 victory. While Milford closed out the season on Monday with a 1-0 victory, the Buccaneers ended the season with a 5-10 record.
On Thursday however, it was about a celebration of the soon to be Milford graduates, who completed their first season under coach Todd French. While trying to introduce a new system, it was difficult for the seniors to try and teach and win at the same time. While the record may not indicate the true value of this class, French believes their contribution to Milford will pay dividends down the road.
“I really asked a lot of this group. Although I had seen the majority of them play before, it really was an honor to coach them,” French said. “While there may have been some ups and downs this season, the work and sacrifice these players put in, will lay the foundation for the future of this program.”
