Just one day after a home and barn were destroyed on Johnson Road in Lincoln, a second house fire destroyed another home on Ryans Run. The home was occupied at the time but no one was injured.
The fire marshal determined that the fire began in a bedroom where a child was playing with combustibles and a lighter. The child was referred to the Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Juvenile Firestarter Intervention Program.
Damages are estimated at $200,000. Ellendale Volunteer Fire Company responded to the alarm and were assisted by multiple surrounding companies in extinguishing the flames. The house was equipped with smoke detectors.
