A holiday tradition for many families took place on Saturday when Santa arrived at his Walnut Street house, riding Carlisle Fire Company’s antique fire truck. Jingles the Elf was on hand to greet Santa as he joined the crowds waiting for him in the center of town. The Santa House is coordinated by Downtown Milford Inc.
“We are always excited to bring Santa to town,” Sade Truiett, Downtown Milford Coordinator, said. “The looks on the faces of the children as they wait eagerly for his arrival is one of the highlights of the season.”
The Milford Community Band played “Santa Claus is Coming to Town” as Santa stepped from the fire truck and walked around the crowd, greeting children and adults alike. Cries of “It’s Santa!” could be heard as children waved and smiled at the Jolly Old Elf.
“I want Labubu,” Eight-year-old Sharee Hinton, said. “I wanted one before school started, but didn’t get one. I am asking Santa for one today.”
Six-year-old Hanna Clark planned to ask Santa for Squishmallow and Barbie dolls while her brother, eight-year-old Kevin wanted Hot Wheels and a new racetrack for them.
Milford’s Santa House is located at 1 South Walnut Street. On Friday, December 5, 12 and 19, the house will be open from 5 to 8 PM. On Saturday, December 6, 13 and 20, the house will be open from 5 to 8 PM. On Sunday, December 7, 14 and 21, the house will be open from 11 AM to 2 PM. Santa heads back to the North Pole on Monday, December 21 to get everyone’s gifts ready for Christmas.
“Like last year, we will have a firepit outside the house,” Nina Pletcher, one of Santa’s elves, said. “We are taking donations of firewood which can be dropped off on the right side of the Santa House at any time.”
In addition, there is a fundraiser through Lynch Creek Farms that is designed to support the Santa House. Simply use this link to order beautiful greenery for your home and help support the Santa House.
