A power outage has been announced by the City of Milford for Wednesday, March 11 at 8 AM. The planned outage will impact specific areas of Milford.
“Although our electric crews worked tirelessly to restore power during the recent storm, some infrastructure requires permanent repairs to ensure continued safety and reliability,” Lauren Swain, Economic Development and Community Engagement Director, said.
The repairs will be done along Elks Lodge Road and will require several electric lines to be temporarily de-energized. During this time, customers who have City of Milford electric in the southeast portion of Milford, along Elks Lodge Road and the Orchard Hill development could experience outages up to six hours.
“PAM Rehabilitation Center and Bayhealth, Sussex Campus, will not be impacted,” Swain said. “We appreciate your patience and understanding as we complete these important upgrades to strengthen our electric system.”
A similar planned outage occurred in October.
“Keep your refrigerator and freezer doors closed during the outage,” Swain said prior to that outage. “A full freezer holds food for about 48 hours. Arrange backup power or accommodations if you use electric-powered medical equipment. Charge all devices or backup battery packs. The outage should not last into the evening but have flashlights available and plan simple meals in case there is a problem.”
