Milford Historical Society has planned their fall Antiques Market for Saturday, October 4, 2025, from 9 AM to 3 PM. Dealers from around Delmarva will be selling antiques and vintage collectibles on the lawn of Parson Thorne Mansion, which is managed by the historical society. The market has been in existence for almost 30 years. The historical society is also accepting requests from artisan vendors who may want to sell at the market.
Admission to the event is $1 and includes tours of the mansion. Ralph Prettyman, President of the historical society, explained that the organization is excited to show the public the renovations that are currently underway at the mansion, including the sharecropper’s cottage, the newly completed Civil War bedroom and the kitchen. The Civil War bedroom includes furnishings donated by or purchased from the Schelhouse family and were owned by General A.T.A. Torbert.
“We will have tour guides dressed in period costumes to provide details on the mansion,” Prettyman said. “There will be light period refreshments available, such as cider, baked goods and lemonade, all popular during the early eras of the mansion. We can always use volunteers to assist as well.”
The Milford Garden Club will be on hand at the event with mums and other fall flowers. They will also be available to answer gardening questions and will have membership information available. Membership is also available for the Milford Historical Society during the event.
“We are currently in the process of constructing a new visitor’s center on the property that will give us state-of-the-art collection storage, office space and meeting areas,” Prettyman said. “We will have drawings available for visitors to see. The new building will have event space as well as a gift shop once it is completed.”
