On August 9, Milford Police Department celebrated the retirement of Senior Corporal John Collins who served with both Milford and Milton Police Departments for over 20 years. His retirement was celebrated at the police department that week.
“John began his law enforcement journey when he entered the Delaware State Police Academy as a recruit with the 63rd Municipal Academy Class in March 2005,” a social media post announcing his retirement read. “After graduating from the Academy, he served with the Milton Police Department for nine years where he was a field training officer, firearms and taser instructor.”
Collins began his career in Milford on March 3, 2014 and was promoted to Patrolman First Class in April 2015. He continued to rise through the ranks, earning the rank of Corporal in 2017 and Senior Corporal in 2019. Collins made many contributions to the department including the Field Training Officer Program, Special Operations Group (SOG) and as a certified taser instructor. He also served as Assistant Shift Commander since 2017.
“We commend S/Cpl. Collins for his service to the Milford community and wish him well on his retirement,” the post read.
