Milford School District celebrated School Resource Officers on February 15, which is National School Resource Officer Appreciation Day. According to the district, this gives them the opportunity to not only recognize their School Resource Officers, but to pause and thank the entire School Safety Team for the work they do.
“Under the direction of Dr. Jessica Weller, our school safety team includes a constable in each building and two School Resource Officers who serve in partnership with the Milford Police Department,” Trish Gerken, Public Information Officer for the district, said. “These dedicated staff serve as mentors, educators, protectors and role models to our students each and every day.”
The School Resource Officers assigned to Milford include Senior Corporal Teresa Bloodsworth and Senior Corporal Nigel Golding. They are joined by John Collins at Morris; Troy Crowson at Banneker; Kenny Brode at Mispillion; Anthony Ross at Ross; Brycen Davis at Milford Middle School; John Knudsen at Milford Central Academy and George Godwin at Milford High School.
“While their primary responsibility is ensuring campus safety, their impact extends far beyond security,” Gerken said. “They build trusted relationships with students and staff, support positive decision-making, assist with conflict resolution, and collaborate closely with administrators to help maintain safe, welcoming and supportive learning environments.”
The district commended the officers for their continued commitment to Milford schools.
“Their presence, partnership and care play a vital role in supporting student well-being and a positive school climate across Milford School District,” Gerken said.
