Milford Advocacy for the Homeless (MAH) recently announced that their “Together We Serve” Monthly Virtual Meetings will now include a monthly speaker. The meetings are held on the first Friday of each month from 8:30 to 9:30 AM, are free and open to the public.
“We’re so excited to keep building bridges between service providers, local residents and advocates through “Together We Serve,” Martha Gery, President and founder of Mah, said. “The program allows us to elevate the work of so many local heroes while also informing and inspiring the public to take part in meaningful community action.”
The next “Together We Serve” meeting will be held June 6 and will feature Nick Gregory, Housing Director of Impact Life Housing. Gregory will be speaking on “Men & Women Impact Programs.” Gregory has a strong background in behavioral health, facilities and operations, bringing a deep understanding of the intersection between housing and well-being. In long-term recovery himself, Gregory offers empathetic leadership to peers within housing programs, driving positive change and empowerment.
In addition to Gregory, Elvida Yoder, a board member for Refuge of Hope will speak as well. Her topic is “Support for Youth Aging Out of Foster Care.” Yoder retired from Delaware Tech in 2018 as the Testing Center Proctor and has served as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for foster children in the state for 14 years. Yoder and her husband, Curtis have three children and 13 grandchildren, including four foster grandchildren. The Yoder’s were foster parents for several years after their children were grown.
