The Milford Garden Club Beautification Committee chose the garden of Jose and Yvonne Meza as the August Garden of the Month. According to the Meza’s, the home and yard needed some loving care when they purchased it five years ago.
“Once we completed the work on the inside of the home, we began to tackle the yard,” the Meza’s told the garden club. “We removed two large red maples which were hiding the front of the house, creating the wide-open space we have now.”
The couple remembered a trip to Disney where Yvone had seen beautiful patches of brightly colored flowers and knew that was the look she wanted for their yard. She chose Sun Patients as they can tolerate full sun and grow about 30 inches tall and 36 inches wide.
“The rows of flowers really create that “wow” factor, particularly with the green foundation shrubs as a backdrop,” Linda McDevitt, Marketing Chair of the Milford Garden Club, said. “Also featured in their yard are several accent trees that bloom in the spring plus a crepe myrtle and a split leaf red maple.”
The beautiful gardens can be seen at 16 Hidden Meadows Terrace. If you know of a garden that should be recognized, contact the Milford Garden Club by emailing [email protected]. Anyone interested in joining the club can use the same email to request an application.
