Barrett “Barry” Collins, a lifetime member of the Dover Fire Department, passed away suddenly on December 11. He was 75.
Collins was born on August 5, 1950, to James and Joan Collins. A salesman for Kent County Motors and Holden Dodge for many years, Collins dedicated himself to service as a member of the Delaware National Guard, including his time with Dover Fire Department.
Proud to be a native Delawarean, avidly devoted to the Philadelphia Eagles. He celebrated the team weekly with his friends at the Green Stinger, Browns Tavern or Grottos. He was known for bringing people together, often singing “Sweet Caroline” on karaoke nights and getting the crowd involved.
Preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Oakley, Collins is survived by his four children Nicole, Shannon, Andrew and Megan, who he loved more than anything. His brother, Wallace (Judy) of South Carolina also survives him along with two nieces Karen and Terry as well as two close cousins Debbie (Ray) Osika of Magnolia and Arlene Gordon of Dover. Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins also mourn him.
Collins will also be missed by his bonus children Nathan, Ashley, Alyson and Amber along with their families.
