Learning and fun are the topics for programs offered at the Milford Public Library during the month of March. Programs are available for children, teens and adults.
Chair yoga is held Mondays and Wednesdays at 3:15 PM and is designed to be done seated or standing, using a chair for support. Chair yoga enhances flexibility, concentration, balance and strength while also boosting mood, reducing stress and alleviating joint strain. Each class must be registered individually.
The Cookbook Club will meet Monday March 9. Each month, the group selects a cookbook, and each participant selects a recipe to prepare and share at the following meeting. Stop by the Circulation Desk to register and choose a recipe. A copy of the recipe will be provided.
Celebrate Women’s History Month with a screening of Hidden Figures on March 12 at 3 PM. The library provides the popcorn. On March 19, create mats for the homeless using plastic bags. Statewide, this program has given more than 400 mats to neighbors in need.
CPR Basics will be taught Saturday, March 28 at 10:30 AM. AED training will also be provided in partnership with CRP Delaware LLC.
For children, weekly story time takes place every Thursday at 10:30 AM. No registration is necessary. On March 10, 17 and 24, Paws and Relax Mindfulness is planned. Children will learn the beginning poses of yoga. Parents are able to participate as well. Register both the child and the parent if so.
STEM with Snapology is offered on March 11 at 5:30 PM, helping increase critical thinking skills through fun and interactive play. In March, the children will learn the science behind ziplining.
During the Children’s Homeschool Hour on March 13 at 1 PM, children will learn to make pasta. Each child will make a ball of pasta dough and use different techniques to make different type sof past to take home. The library will end the class with a taste test. Ingredients will be provided for the sauces and will be offered during the taste test. Please advise the library of any allergies.
A Sensory Art and Craft Workshop is planned for Saturday, March 14 at 11:30 AM and a St. Patrick’s gold Coin Hunt is planned the week of March 16 all day. On March 18, Roots Literacy and Language will be offered, creating a love of learning and reading. All day Saturday, March 21 is Play-Doh Day. Children will receive a small container of Play-Doh to roll out, mold and press. Once they are done, the child gets to take their creation home.
The LEGO Club meets Tuesday, March 24 at 5:30 PM. This program is for ages six and older.
Teens will enjoy Japanese 101 every Wednesday at 4 PM. On March 5 at 3:30 PM, teens can create their own magic potion. They will select a vile, color their potion and turn them into necklaces, keychains or use them as a table decoration.
Sylvan Learning will offer an SAT Practice Test on Saturday, March 7 at 10 AM. On Wednesday, March 11 at 4 PM, there will be a Writer’s Workshop for teens and on the 13th at 1 PM, Homeschool Hour will feature superstitions and black cat plushies. On March 19 at 4 PM, Pizza and Paperbacks returns.
Astrology Day Celebrations take place on Friday, March 20 at 3:30 PM and on Tuesday, March 24 at 4 PM, the library will celebrate International Waffle Day with a waffle bar.
