Milford offers a wide variety of parks and pavilions that are available for use by the public. Parks are located throughout town allowing access no matter where someone lives.
Banneker Park, located at 449 North Street is a basketball court with a grassy area. Food is permitted at the park, although only gas grills may be used. There is limited parking, but the park holds 200 people. The cost to rent the park is $50 for non-profits and $100 for profit organizations.
Bicentennial Park was constructed to recognize the 200th anniversary of the United States. Located at 214 Northeast Front Street, the first public event held there was a piano concert. The park offers benches and picnic tables, a pavilion and a pedestrian bridge that allows fishing. Food is allowed but only gas grills can be used. There is water and electric available. The cost to rent Bicentennial Park is the same as Banneker Park.
The Milford Dog Park, ranked one of the best in Delaware, can be found at 1 Marshall Street. There are benches and a drinking fountain. This park is not available for private rental and there is limited parking.
Goat Island has a unique history. The island was formed in 1927 when the Army Corps of Engineers straightened the Mispillion River. Named for the goats placed there to graze by a local farmer, the city purchased the island in 1975. It is now part of the Mispillion Riverwalk and offer a 0.7-mile nature trail where visitors can view marshland and forests. There are also educational signs to provide information about the wild and plant life there. It is located next to the Dog Park at 1 Marshall Street. It is not available for private rental.
Kate’s Way Field, located at 101 Delaware Veteran’s Boulevard is a large grassy area on the east side of the Boys & Girls Club. It is not available for private rental.
Library Square and Amphitheater at 11 Southeast Front Street is a shaded square and amphitheater along the Mispillion River and next to the public library. The library holds Concerts in the Park there in the summer. There is no information on whether it is available for rent.
Marshall’s Pond Park provides ample opportunities to observe wildlife. It is the perfect place for family picnics, reunions and other events. Pop Warner has a building there and it is next to Marshall Pond with fishing options. Located at 1011 Lemuel Street, the park has an optional amphitheater, open space for activities, picnic tables and ample shade. There is limited parking. Food is allowed but grills are not. The cost to rent this park is the same as for Bicentennial and Banneker.
Located at 207 Franklin Street, Marvel Square Park offers a grassy area, open space for activities and ample parking. There is an optional pavilion and playground. There is limited shade. Food is allowed along with gas grills. There is water and electric available. The cost to rent Marvel Square is $75 for non-profits and $150 for profit organizations.
Memorial Park is an excellent location for family reunions, picnics, cookouts and other events. There is room for games, tents, tables and chairs. For a small additional fee, the basketball court can be rented. There are benches, electric and ample parking. Fishing is permitted, but there is limited shade. Food and gas grills are allowed. The cost to rent is $75 for non-profits with an additional $25 rental cost for the basketball courts. For profit organizations can rent the park for $150 with the court costing $50 extra.
The Tony Silicato Memorial Park and Can-Do Playground is located at 101 Delaware Veteran’s Park. There are expansive fields, a disk golf course, a half mile walking trail. This park is one of the most popular in the city. Many of the Parks & Recreation programs are hosted in that park. This park is not available for private rental.
Can-Do Playground was a project sponsored by the Milford Rotary. It is a playground for children of all abilities. There are handicap-accessible sections that allow children to enjoy playing on the equipment no matter their ability.
