Killens Pond has planned a series of workshops about the harm caused by invasive plants. The workshops are designed for those who want to reduce the threat of these plants and are interested in helping manage them.

On the third Saturday of each month form 10 AM to Noon, workshops are planned to explain invasive plants which are those that are not native to the region and grow aggressively, competing with native plants for resources. These plants can also displace native plants, and the problem of invasive plants continues to rise.

Volunteers make a significant difference at Killens Pond in their effort to manage invasive plants and the park staff is eager to work with others who want to learn more or want to take steps to slow the introduction of such plants.

Those interested meet at the Pondside Trail parking lot at Killens Pond. Park staff reminds everyone to wear weather-appropriate attire, including long sleeves, long pants and closed-toe shoes. Bring gloves and drinking water as well.

Registration is recommended and can be completed by clicking here.
