On Friday, February 28, Alicia Hollis, Director of Community Relations at Kent Sussex Industries (KSI) retired after 27 years of service. Earlier that week, Alicia was named the second Honorary Board Member by the Chamber of Commerce for Greater Milford.
“Alicia is highly regarded not only by the participants, staff and Board of Directors at KSI, but by so many in the community who know her unwavering passion for helping people,” Heath Chasanov, Executive Director of KSI said.
As a sendoff, KSI held a dance party on Friday to allow the many members of the KSI family who have shared Hollis’ life over the years, to express their appreciation and to say goodbye.
“A CCGM honorary member is one who has rendered distinguished service to the chamber, community, state or federal government,’ Jo Schmeiser, Executive Director of the chamber said at a recent board meeting. “Alica has served on the board and executive board three terms, serving as secretary and vice-president. She served on the Riverwalk Freedom Festival Committee for several years and was co-chair of the Duck Dash.”
In addition, Hollis volunteered for many chamber events including Girl’s Night Out, Holiday Auction & Tastes of Milford, Community expo and Affordable Housing Resource Fair. Hollis presented Milford High School seniors in the Special Education Department with chamber monetary awards toward furthering their education.
“What an ambassador Alicia has been,” Sue Grenier posted on social media. “I so enjoyed working with you. You made a difference in so many lives.”
Hollis was humbled by the praise, especially after learning she was the second honorary chamber member, joining Ruth Abbate who initially held that honor.
“I am so humbled and grateful,” Hollis said at the chamber board meeting. “I have been blessed to serve such an worthwhile organization and to work with such an outstanding group of people.”
