The Milford Garden Club/ Garden of the month is an outstanding garden which displays the unique style and design of the homeowners. Each year, from Spring through the Fall, in Milford and the greater Milford areas, there are a number of special exceptional gardens.
Starting in May, the Beautification Committee of the Milford Garden Club recognizes one of these special gardens. For the month of May, Dave and Shirley ,who reside on Griffith Lake Drive in Milford, were recognized for their beautiful gardens.
Their imaginative style and use of showy blooming flowers is evident throughout all their gardens. One example of their creativity is when they decided to repurpose a kitchen island cart into an outdoor wagon holding eight pots of beautiful annuals. Plants included in the pots and displayed throughout their gardens are chrysanthemums, petunias, pansies, impatiens, and geraniums (both solid and variegated). Other plants included in their garden areas are: spirea, rhododendron, Hosta, roses, and sedum as well as several shrubs and other blooming flowers.
Another feature of their garden is that they elected to use stones rather than mulch as the background for their plants. This allows each plant to make its own statement and stand alone. Dave and Shirley certainly have a creative style and eye for design which is apparent in all their garden areas.
Any garden in the Milford area is eligible for recognition. The chosen garden receives a sign to place on their property and bragging rights until the following month. Recommendations can be submitted through email. Anyone who is interested in joining the garden club can also request information using the same email.
