As the weather continues to warm, Abbott’s Mill Nature Center is offering many programs throughout the month of June for young and old. Everything from nature walks to teen adventures, the nature center is an excellent place to get back in touch with the outdoors.
The Knee-High Naturalist Program, designed for children between two and five, offers educational information every Wednesday from 10 AM to 11:30 AM. On June 4, children learn about recycling and can make a tote to take home. The theme for June 11 is “What’s In a Stream,” while on June 18, nature games and activities designed to teach about the great outdoors are planned. On June 25, “Bees Buzz – But What Do They Do For Us” will teach the importance of pollination and the important task bees have in the process. The cost is $15 per session and children must be accompanied by an adult.
Also on Wednesday, Abbott’s Mill offers informative weekly nature walks on the trails. The walks begin at 1 PM and end at 2:30 PM. Sessions are planned for June 4, 11, 18 and 25. The cost is $15 per session.
Music at the Mill returns June 12 from 5 to 7:30 PM. This is a free event with food and beverages on site for purchase. Bring a lawn chair or blanket, gather the entire family and enjoy a relaxing music-filled evening. On June 12, Bryan & the Barn Owls will perform. Food will be available from Grandpa Mac and LJ’s Italian Ice.
