On Sunday, March 2, seven fire companies along with Kent/Sussex paramedics, responded to a house fire in the 2300 block of Thompsonville Road. There were reports of the sounds of explosions from neighbors as the structure as well as several cars were on fire.
“Firefighters from South Bowers, Frederica, Carlisle, Houston, Slaughter Beach, Harrington, Bowers and Kent/Sussex Medics responded to the scene, bringing the fire under control in about three hours,” Bobby Johnson of Bowers Beach Fire Company posted on social media.
On Monday, March 3, firefighters were called back to the scene to extinguish a flare up of fire in one of the vehicles. No one was injured in the fire although there were reports that the explosions were due to oxygen tanks inside the home used by a resident.
