A 21-year-old Greenwood man died in an accident near Farmington on July 6 at approximately 1 AM. The name of the victim is being withheld pending family notification.
The young man was driving a GMC Sierra pickup, traveling southbound on Shawnee Road just south of Breezy Meadow Lane. Police believe he was traveling at a high rate of speed before veering off the east side of the road, striking a tree on the left side of the vehicle, then continuing south where it struck another tree head-on.
The driver was not properly restrained and was pronounced dead at the scene. The road was closed for approximately three and a half hours while Delaware State Police Troop 7 Collision Reconstruction Unit investigated.
