Darlene Faye Kenton, 54, of Milford, passed away October 1, 2025, soon after being diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. According to her children, Kenton was the heart and soul of their family.
Kenton was born the daughter of the late Duane “Scutch” Kenton and Joyce Webb Kenton. Her family says she was the rock that held them together and she raised her sons to be close, encouraging them to look out for each other and keep family first. Her greatest joy was as a mother and grandmother.
The love for her children was at the center of everything Kenton did, loving her children and grandchildren beyond measure. She adored her grandchildren and treated them like her own, especially Nick Neibert Jr., who she loved like another son. She was happiest when surrounded by family, celebrating birthdays and holidays, cooking everyone’s favorite meal and finding the perfect gift that made every occasion special.
Hardworking, Kenton took great pride in her work, and she shared a special bond with her dog, Moe, who she often called her children’s “little brother.” Her faith in God and angels guided her through life and her love knew no limits. If there was ever a car accident on the news, she would call to make sure everyone in her family was safe, she was always worrying, caring and loving.
Kenton will be deeply missed and forever remembered by her mother, Joyce Webb Kenton; her five sons, Joseph Neibert Jr.; Dustin Neibert; Colby Neibert; Chase Neibert; and Chad Neibert. She will also be missed by her beloved dog, Moe and her adored grandchildren, Nick Niebert Jr.; Lexi Neibert; Chloe Neibert and Chad Neibert, Jr. Her brothers and sisters, Fred Kenton, Randy Kenton, Crystal Kenton and Yvonne Kenton will also miss her terribly.
She was preceded in death by her father, Duane “Scutch” Kenton; her brother, Duane “Scutchie Kenton Jr.; and her son, Nicholas Neibert.
A viewing was held on October 8 at Lofland Funeral Home with a funeral following.
“Her love, strength and devotion to her children and grandchildren will continue to live on through them,” her obituary read. “Binding them together just as she always wanted.”
A post on social media from her daughter-in-law, Angie Robles, captured the family’s loss.
“Today, we said our goodbyes to our fierce mother, Darlene Kenton, the mother of my husband, Colby and the creator of our beloved Chalupa Empanadas (yes, thanks to her, Chalupa Empanadas are a thing here,” the post read. “These past three months haven’t been easy for our family. We’ve faced some challenges and heavy moments, but even in the middle of it all, the kindness, prayers and support we’ve received have meant so much. Many of you have shared love without even knowing what we were going through and for that, we are truly grateful. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for keeping our family, our team, and our bakery in your prayers. We don’t take a single bit of it for granted. May God bless each and every one of you, and this beautiful community, as much as you’ve been a blessing to us.”
Instead of flowers, the family requests contributions to the Shepherd’s Office, 408 North Bedford Street, Georgetown, DE 19947.
