Milford City Council approved an annexation request from Iglesia Pentecostal La Senda Antigua – Milford Inc. The Annexation Committee recommended approval of the request in July. The applicant intends to build a church on the property. The Planning Commission approved the request for annexation and a change to zone R3.
“The applicant is seeking annexation and $3 zoning in order to connect the church to water, sewer and electric utilities,” Troy Adams, who was representing the applicant, said. “It is going to be a church and they are super excited about it. We do fit in the comprehensive plan.”
A public hearing was held for the annexation request and no one spoke for or against the application. Because it was a land matter, Mayor Todd Culotta polled council during voting. Councilman Dan Marabello, Councilwomen Nadia Zychal, Madula Kalesis and Lori Connor all voted yes as the request met all requirements.
Councilman Michael Stewart voted yes as there were no adverse impacts in the area. Councilman Jason James also voted yes.
“It satisfied all the requirements and there was a unanimous recommendation from the annexation committee,” James said.
The motion passed six to zero as Councilman Danny Perez and Councilwoman Katrina Wilson were absent from the meeting.
