Milford City Council appointed Gregory Morris to be the new City Solicitor, replacing David Rutt who served in that capacity for over 14 years. Morris will begin serving on August 1 to allow Rutt to tie up any loose ends with the city.
“I am very interested in having the opportunity to become the Solicitor for the City of Milford,” a letter provided in the council packet from Moore read. “Our firm has represented the Town of Bethany Beach for the past 14 years with my partner serving as Solicitor. I have been the Solicitor for the Town of Dagsboro for the past six years, the Town of Bridgeville for two years and the Town of Camden for one-and-half years.”
Mayor Todd Culotta explained to council that he, the City Clerk and the Vice Mayor met with Morris, with all agreeing that he met all the obligations and regulations necessary to serve as Solicitor.
“He definitely has a great deal of municipal experience, so he will be an asset,” Culotta said. “Sorry to see Dave go but this is a good alternative.”
The letter stated that the firm, Liguori & Morris, would bill at the rate of $250 and would not charge travel time. His appearance at council meetings would be at the request of the city and when he was unavailable would offer the assistance of James Liguori and Melissa Dill. The letter also stated there was no conflict of interest between the firm and the City of Milford.
Morris earned his undergraduate degree at West Chester University of Pennsylvania and his law degree from Widener University Schools of Law. Prior to becoming a partner at Liguori and Morris, he was an attorney with Hudson, Jones, Jaywork, Fisher and Liguori before accepting a partnership at Liguori, Morris & Yiengst.
