The City of Milford announced yesterday that they would be collecting storm-related yard debris through March to help residents clean up after the recent storms. The special pick-up is for excess yard waste that does not fit inside the regular Monday yard-waste container with the lid fully closed.
“We ask residents to cut sticks and branches into four-foot lengths,” Lauren Swain, Economic Development and Community Engagement Director, said. “Branches must be three inches in diameter or smaller. Stack the brush neatly at the curb with the butt ends facing the street. Place piles so one person can safely handle them. Keep debris out of the street and please don’t block sidewalks.”
As a reminder, trunks and branches larger than three inches in diameter must be hauled away. If residents hire a contractor to remove trees, the contractor is responsible for removing the larger items.
“All residents should have yard waste containers,” Swain said. “If they don’t, they can contact public works. Unfortunately, we do not offer temporary containers.”
Once the branches are placed at the curb, call 302-422-6616, Option 2, to schedule collection. A yard waste container can be requested online or call 302-422-6616, Extension 1100.
“We appreciate everyone’s help in keeping our community clean and safe,” Swain said.
