The City of Milford recently announced that weekly leaf collection began for solid waste customers on Monday, November 3 and will continue until December 19. Crews will inspect he entire city weekly for leaves placed out for collection.
“There is no need to call for scheduling,” Lauren Swain, Economic Development and Community Engagement Director, said. “Leaves should be raked out to the curb or to the furthest point of the lawn by 7 AM each Monday. Because there is only one truck collecting the leaves, it will take all week.”
The city asked that all leaves be kept away from poles, walls, fire hydrants, trees or signs and that residents refrain from blowing or raking leaves into the street as they can clog drains and lead to flooding.
In addition, all leaf piles should be free of brush, glass, cans, rocks, sticks and other debris as these items can cause injury to city employees and damage the collection equipment.
