The Chamber of Commerce for Greater Milford Executive Director Jo Schmeiser is looking ahead to 2026 and sees only good things for the city. Schmeiser explained that the chamber is here to help all businesses grow.
“The Chamber of Commerce for Greater Milford is the largest business supported organization in Milford and as we continue to grow, we continue to add benefits and opportunities to help our businesses and organizations make the connections they need to help grow their business,” Schmeiser said. “We will be running member testimonials from January through December 2026 to tell the many reasons why joining the chamber is a great investment.”
One of the things that Schmeiser thinks will impact business significantly in 2026 is artificial intelligence.
“As we all know, AI has made its mark and I believe in 2026 it is going to be one of the biggest drivers of business,” Schmeiser said. “I also believe continued remote and hybrid opportunities will become permanent practice.”
An interesting viewpoint Schmeiser offered was that more young people were being promoted into management positions.
“Seeing so many of the next gen getting promoted to management positions, opening businesses and being so supportive with the chamber gives me the most hope for Milford,” Schmeiser said. “I believe Milford has a continued bright economic future.”
One area that Milford needs to look at is housing, Schmeiser pointed out.
“As it has been for several years, income restricted housing and homelessness are still issues not only in Milford, but all over America,” Schmeiser said. “Attention and planning are both necessary to provide housing to those in need and I believe the City of Milford, along with Milford Housing Development Corporation and Sussex Habitat for Humanity are all doing a great job in this area.”
One bold prediction Schmeiser had was that the Milford Museum and Chamber of Commerce for Greater Milford would move into the former Milford Police Station and become “one of Delaware’s most visited Welcome Centers.”
