Bayhealth proudly recognized Tina Raab, MSN, RNC-OB, C-EFM, C-ONQS, NPD-BC, with a 2025 DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurse Educator. Presented by the DAISY Foundation, this award honors nurse educators who positively impact patient care by teaching, guiding, and supporting fellow healthcare professionals.
Raab serves as a nurse educator at the Bayhealth Hospital, Sussex Campus Center for Women and Infants, and has been a dedicated member of the Bayhealth team for more than two years.
She was nominated for her exceptional leadership and unwavering commitment to supporting staff development and mentoring future nurses.
“Known for her integrity, Tina consistently follows through on her commitments, including dedicating a full year to enhancing the surgical skills of labor and delivery nurses as part of opening an obstetrics (OB) operating room (OR) suite at the Sussex Campus,” says her nominator.
A powerful example of Raab’s influence came shortly after the first OB surgical nursing cohort completed their training. During a nightshift obstetric emergency, a trained nurse was able to open the OR and prepare for a C-section without waiting for the on-call surgical team. Thanks to this training, the baby was delivered within 16 minutes, saving both mother and child—clearly demonstrating the life-saving impact of Raab’s efforts.
The DAISY Award was established in 2000 by the family of J. Patrick Barnes to honor the compassionate care he received from nurses. Honorees are selected by nurses, administrators, peers, physicians, volunteers, patients, and families.
