Bayhealth has expanded its surgical team with the addition of Board Certified General Surgeon Patrick Elliott, DO, FACS.
Dr. Elliott specializes in general and acute care surgery for critically ill and injured patients. His expertise includes hernia repairs, gallbladder surgery, and emergency abdominal procedures. He is currently accepting new patients at Bayhealth General Surgery in Dover.
“As our communities grow, it’s important that we grow the specialized medical and surgical resources available,” said Bayhealth Vice President of Physician Services Operations Dina Perry, MBA, CLSSGB. “We’re proud to be expanding our team with the recent addition of General Surgeon Dr. Patrick Elliott. Should a community member need a planned or emergency surgery, they are in excellent hands with Dr. Elliott and the rest of our surgical team at Bayhealth.”
Dr. Elliott earned his medical degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, where he received multiple scholarships and the Galen S. Young, Sr. Award for Excellence in Surgery. He completed his surgical residency at the University of Illinois at Chicago and Cook County Hospital, where he also served as chief resident.
A U.S. Army veteran, Dr. Elliott served in the 101st Airborne Division and later as commander of a surgical team and chief of general surgery at Blanchfield Army Medical Center in Fort Campbell, Kentucky. He was also deployed as a battalion surgeon with the 18th Airborne Corps/82nd Airborne Division in the Multinational Force and Observers mission in Sinai, Egypt.
In addition to his military service, Dr. Elliott built an extensive surgical career in Pennsylvania. He practiced as a general and trauma surgeon at Crozer Chester Medical Center, worked as an on-call trauma surgeon at Aria-Jefferson Health Torresdale Hospital in Philadelphia, served as president of Brinton Lake Ambulatory Surgery Center in Glen Mills, and held leadership roles as surgery site director and chief of surgery at Taylor Hospital in Ridley Park.
Dr. Elliott now joins Bayhealth General Surgery in Dover alongside Edward Alexander, MD; Theodoros Katsichtis, MD, FACS, DABOM; Barath Krishnan, MD; Krishnaraj Mahendraraj, MD; John Mitchell, MD; and Assar A. Rather, MD, FACS, FASCRS.
