Bayhealth announced the first babies of 2026 born at both of their campuses in Delaware. Najah Rouse of Dover welcomed a baby girl named Autumn at 4:33 AM at the Kent Campus while Sussex Campus welcomed a boy, Erian, at 6:44 AM. Autumn weighed 5 pounds 10 ounces and was 19 inches long, Erian weighed d7 pounds 10½ ounces and was 20¾ long.
Each family and baby received a special Bayhealth gift tote that included a blanket, sleep sack, stuffed animal and other items many new parents need.

Highmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield has recognized both Bayhealth hospitals with the Blue Distinction Center Designation for Maternity Care. Bayhealth Kent Campus also offers a Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) while Bayhealth Sussex offers a Level I unit for newborns who need specialized care.
Both campuses are Baby Friendly, which means they offer an optimal environment for infant feeding and mother-baby bonding. In addition, Bayhealth offers free online resources to parents, including milestones to infant care and more, to assist new parents. The programs are available in multilingual, read-to-me options accessible by tablet, computer and smartphone.
