Bayhealth recently received a $25,000 grant from the Perdue Foundation.

The Bayhealth Foundation recently announced that they were the recipient of a $25,000 grant from the Franklin P. and Arthur W. Perdue Foundation, Inc., the charitable arm of Perdue Farms. The grant will be go toward the mobile cancer screening program through the Mobile Care Unit used in Milford and Georgetown.

“Bayhealth is incredibly grateful for the continuous commitment and support by the Perdue Foundation as we work to address cancer screening needs in our community,” John Shevock, Senior Director of Oncology Service Line and Executive Director, Bayhealth Cancer Institute, said. “The support allows our Mobile Care Unit to meet patients in their community and provide access to cancer screenings and makes it easier for those living in central and southern Delaware to stay on top of their health.”

Bayhealth’s Mobile Care Unit is a 38-foot rolling clinic equipped with a private examination room, two hearing screening booths, a waiting area and a bathroom. In addition to providing cancer screenings, the unit offers blood pressure checks, health education, health screenings, vaccinations and more.

Funds from this award will support Bayhealth’s continuous effort to meet the community where they are and provide services like smoking cessation, breast, lung and prostate cancer screenings. The unit travels to Perdue plants in Milford and Georgetown.

The grant will be used to support the Bayhealth Mobile Health Unit

“Assuring access to quality health care in the communities where our associates live and work in Delaware is a priority at Perdue,” Kim Nechay, Executive Director of the Perdue Foundation, said. “This investment is part of the company’s Delivering Hope to Our Neighborhoods outreach to improve quality of life and build strong communities. We are proud to be part of Bayhealth’s tradition of healthcare excellence. We know the services provided through the mobile unit will help improve the quality fo life for our associates and their families, our neighbors.”
